Poker Variations Although there may be a number of variations of poker which have been created in the present card game world but some of the variations are universally acclaimed and played as the conventional variations as the game of Poker. The most commonly played variation at private and public tournaments are the 5 and 7 card studs. The 7 Card stud is played amongst 3-5 players. This variation of poker is based on betting when the cards are dealt facedown, until the last set is dealt and the final betting takes place. The use of wild cards may allow further variation in this type. The 5 card stud is also played like the 7 card stud and is also based on the betting on the unseen cards that are dealt in different rounds. The wild cards provide a margin for further variations even in this type. The third variation that is experienced is "Chicago" which is quite similar to the 7card stud. The fourth variation is "Indian Poker" which can be played between 2-10 players and is actually about which player has the highest card while being ignorant about it as the card is not seen by the player. It is all based on bluffing over an unlimited pot. Another variation that is known is "Lowball." Lowball is played between 3-7 players. It is unique as it is played on contrary to the usual rules of the game. The player with the lowest hand wins. |
