Poker- When to Stay and When to Go One common mistake that beginners in poker make, is not knowing when to stay in a hand and when to fold. It’s the same thing we all go through when we first start playing poker. We feel once were in the game, and we’ve invested that much money, we need to stay in and see it through to the end. But that’s not the case. You got to get used to the fact that you cannot win a pot just because you put so much money into it. There will be times when it’s better for you to fold and get out so you don’t lose money unnecessarily. If you know the cards well and what the ranks are of the different hands, then you should be able to tell early on if it’s worth it to stay in or if you need to get out. Keep in mind that the money you’ve already put into the pot is no longer yours. You cannot get that money back just by staying in the hands until the end. If you’re unsure of what to do prior to starting the game, then brush up on the rules and regulations of the game as well as the rankings of the hands. This will help you greatly in knowing when to stay and when to fold. You do not have to stay until the end if you know that you have no chance in winning. There is no sense in loosing more money if thee is no chance of winning. |
