Poker is a tough game to figure out.  To hear any experienced poker player try to explain all the factors you should take into consideration just to make a bet would make your eyes roll back in your head.

One guy tells you to do things one way while another guy – who’s won just as many WSOP bracelets – tells you not to do those things.  Well, that’s certainly the case with the adage “Be aggressive.”  Others tell you how putting too much of your stack at risk can invite even tight players in with much stronger hands.

Keep in mind, that when you establish yourself as an aggressive player, you usually incur the wrath of the other players at the table.  Some people don’t mind that.  They like to incur the wrath.  The feeling being that those other players will sacrifice some objective talent in an effort to simply “get back at someone.”  But at a full table, you the Aggressor can find sometimes yourself taking on 8 other players – all with a vendetta against you.  They’ll look for any and all opportunities to trap you and teach you a lesson.

Remember: there are more tips on how to beat an aggressive player than there are on how to play like one.  Playing aggressively simply means playing a lot of hands, raising when the feeling strikes – and sometimes when the cards are good, and betting into raisers -- strategy that’s generally unsound and only serves in unnerving an opponent.
